Professional Biography

Yossie Olaleye is a PhD student in the Department of Culture, Media & Creative Industries, investigating the firm- and sector-level factors shaping entry, progression and retention in consumer publishing through a comparative analysis of mainstream corporate publishers, minority-led independents, and alternative creative collectives. Her research is supported through the King’s Doctoral College under the Harold Moody PGR Studentship. She is Research Assistant for the Africa-Europe Cluster of Research Excellence (CoRE) on Creative Economies, with a recent publication examining barriers to translating Africa’s cultural visibility into sustainable economic growth, co-authored with Dr Lauren England. Yossie curates The Surulere Review, a publication centred on African art, literature and culture, and is the organiser of the Bartlett Africa Heritage Symposium, bringing together architects, scholars and cultural practitioners to discuss African perspectives on architectural education and practice. She holds an MSc in Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
